Housing with organic shapes, in Colonia de Sant Pere

House with ground floor and first floor designed in collaboration with the carpenter and master craftsman Jordi Ribas. Conceived from the beginning with criteria of bioconstruction and sustainability, the formalization of the project materialized by creating organic forms, looking for the right orientation, the views and the optimization of the interior spaces. The house is attached to the northern median, with a porch on the facade and a patio to the south that surrounds it all. In the main living room-kitchen-dining room space, the fireplace is the central pillar from where the beams come out radially, like a tree that covers the rooms.

The whole building has been built with load-bearing walls of expanded clay blocks and the forgings have been made with reclaimed northern wood beams and cross-beams of strip wood. The insulation of the roofs has been made with black natural cork, and the coatings and mortars used are lime. The windows and shutters are made of wood and the interior furniture is also custom-made by Jordi.

The house is heated from a radiant floor system, powered by thermal solar panels and a thermo-wood fireplace. It does not have a cooling system, since the inertia it has, together with solar protections and good cross ventilation mean that it is not necessary.
